If you're a US resident, you mean. It would be nice if you didn't get our hopes up for nothing.

Noted, and changed. Apologies for the confusion.

I hear where you're coming from, though. Here's my response from the lj_contests community to a similar sentiment from another user:

"We're currently looking at changes to the site that would allow our editorial teams across the globe to cater promotions and content to specific regions. With this change, the door will be open for promotions of all kinds for all of our members.

While it's a less-than-perfect situation at the moment, I'm optimistic that these future changes will make promotional events more inclusive than ever before. We definitely understand your frustration and hope to improve the situation within the next few months."

Um, isn't this:

"to cater promotions and content to specific regions"

what you have now? Global and region free promos and content would be muchly preferred to any one or dozen countries being included while the rest remain excluded.

I'm not a part of "my country"!lj, I'm a part of livejournal as a whole. I find these insistences on official posts that folks are part of "livejournal US" or "Cyrillic livejournal" exclusive and offensive, since the rest of us pay the same dollars they do. Should we not get the same content and chance at promos?

It's similar to what we have now but not identical. The changes we're working to make would allow editorial teams in specific regions more flexibility over content and promotional events. Hopefully, these changes will create more events for everyone. :-)

The U.S. office always has the global audience in mind when taking these promotions into account and work to include a larger audience when possible. Some promotions run from the U.S. office are global, and that won't change. There will be some, unfortunately, that won't be run globally.
